Jaguar grape

The Jaguar variety belongs to the hybrid form of grapes. It is characterized by a fast ripening period of 104-115 days, vigor, decent yield. Berries can be picked in the first half of August.

Description of the Jaguar grape variety (photo):

  • the bunch has a mass of 700-1500 g, forms a cylindrical shape, has an average density;
  • large berries of an elongated shape (as in the photo), with seeds, weight 13-16 g, red-purple color, the pulp has a harmonious sweet and sour taste.

Planting seedlings

Jaguar grapes grow poorly in shaded areas. Therefore, to create a vineyard, it is preferable to opt for a sunny and windy place. The optimal choice is the south side of the building or structure (house, dense fence). Since the plant is planted for many years, it is necessary to choose a site for a vineyard thoughtfully. A seedling is planted in the spring, and the place is prepared in advance - a week or two before planting.

Before planting seedlings, it is necessary to dig a trench to a depth of about 55-60 cm. The orientation for the hole is north-south. Thanks to this, in the future, the Jaguar grapes will be evenly illuminated throughout the day. The length of the pit is calculated based on the number of bushes, since plants are planted after 1.5-2 m.If it is planned to plant seedlings in several short rows, then strips of not more than two meters are left for the aisle.

At the same time, a trellis is being erected next to the pit. It is best to use metal pipes with a length of 2-2.5 m and wire as a building material. Base pipes are driven along the trench every 2 meters. Along the hole, a wire is fixed in several rows. Moreover, the bottom row is located at a distance of approximately 40 cm from the ground. The next wire is pulled every 35-40 cm. It is recommended to fasten three to four rows. Special attention should be paid to fixing the wire, as the wire can bend or slide out under the weight of the grapes.

Important! Only one grape variety can be planted in one row, as different varieties may require special care.

Before planting Jaguar seedlings, a nutrient mixture is poured onto the bottom of the pit, calculated as a bucket of mixture per meter of trench. Fertilizer is prepared in advance: a bucket of humus is mixed with 60-80 g of superphosphate and 40-50 g of potassium chloride.

Jaguar grape seedlings are lowered into a hole and buried, after carefully straightening all the roots. The final stage of planting is abundant watering of the seedlings.

Vine formation

Jaguar grapes are pruned the next year after planting. To form the correct shape of the bush, only the central shoot and two lateral ones are left. Moreover, the central branch is fixed to the trellis vertically, and the side branches are fixed horizontally. In the future, five to six shoots are left on the horizontal branches, which are fixed vertically on the trellis.

The first grapes can be enjoyed three years after planting a Jaguar seedling.

Vertical vines are cut at a level of about 1.4-1.5 m. It is recommended to choose the height of the cut individually - it should be comfortable to take care of the grapes. Young shoots must be removed regularly - Jaguar grapes must not be allowed to thicken.

Propagation of grapes

For the cultivation of vines, it must be borne in mind that the vegetative method is most often used. In advance in the fall, cuttings of the Jaguar variety are cut and buried in the ground for the winter period. Grape cuttings are planted in the spring.

Important! Before planting seedlings, it is necessary to scratch the part of the cutting that will be buried with a file. This technique is used to form a root embryo in a seedling.

Preparing for the winter period

It is advisable to dig up the soil under the vine - in this case, the moisture will be better absorbed and the plant will not freeze too much. Pruning of the vine is also advised in the fall. Green shoots and mature vines are cut off.

Jaguar grapes are considered frost-resistant, able to withstand frost up to - 20˚ C. Therefore, in the southern and middle regions, it is possible not to specially cover it. It is enough to carefully remove the vine from the trellis, tie and tilt to the ground. To prevent the vines from straightening, they are pinned to the ground.

In more northern regions, it is recommended to make additional shelter - branches and a film are placed under the associated vines. And on top of the Jaguar grapes are covered with any "warm" material - sawdust, boards, straw mats.

Important! In order not to freeze the roots of young Jaguar seedlings, the near-trunk area is covered with earth by about 15 cm. The cover roll is formed low and wide.

It is very exciting to do viticulture, you just need a little patience and diligence. A large varietal variety allows you to choose grapes that are suitable for growing conditions and taste.

Testimonials

Svetlana, Novorossiysk
The Jaguar grape matches the description. Sweet berries with a pleasant taste, not specially covered for the winter.
Vladimir Sergienko, Samara
I was not satisfied with the Jaguar variety. Last year, the leaves were affected by mildew (although it must be admitted that there were a lot of rains in August-September). This year, the first "signaling" appeared - left two bunches. Clusters of dense cylindrical shape formed and the berries began to burst and collect many wasps.
Nikolay Mezentsev, Rostov region
The Jaguar grape disappointed. The berries burst after the rains, and I did not catch an interesting aftertaste - neither nutmeg nor varietal.
